Mezanmi has continued to develop his ambient sound with the fresh cut, ‘Like Spun Gold’. His music, known for incorporating gentle classical influences and folk, has wandered into a distant, textured electronic world. His emotive voice is still as haunting as ever, but it now rests above a selection of slowly morphing synths that ebb and flow calmly, reaching cinematic, widescreen highs. He says the track is about “those people who can skilfully manipulate others with their words and actions but who can then absolve themselves of responsibility when there are negative consequences. Certain people are so power-hungry that they'll betray anything and anyone in order to cling to it. We wanted a violence in the music to drive home the lyrics.” Keep an eye out for his performance at this year’s A Stone’s Throw festival in Newcastle. -Dan Peeke
